Andrew Hudson Career Background
What is your biggest career achievement?
- My biggest career achievement has to be something we now call at Mission Rock, The Rock Club. The Rock Club is a monthly, exhilarating team building video call where we "hi-five" wins and pull together to overcome cruxes. Our teams are webcam ready and their mindset is set to thinking and believing in the "I'm-possible"! Together we climb to the Top of the Rock like our lives depend on it!
When I first started with Mission Rock there was little to no live webcam training. In the past I loved communicating with my teams via webcam. It allows for a more in person interaction through a lens of course. I shared with my manager the Director of Training Anissa Faus my idea of bringing my East Coast Teams together with a monthly video call and she immediately got on board and pushed me to my limits with planning.
After everything was planned the next hurdle was getting the Regional Managers and VP's in my regions to catch the vision and approve testing on the East Coast. Not only were they ecstatic about the club, they approved all communities buying a webcam for the training. February 2019 we had our first Rock Club at Mission Rock Residential and it was a huge success. Fast forward to today, The Rock Club is now recognized across all regions in the company and is put on every month for our associates.
This all came from a little dream I shared with my manger and her standing behind me pushing the vision forward.
What is your ultimate career goal within the rental housing industry?
- My ultimate career goal within the rental housing industry is to become a VP of Training for multiple organizations. I know this does not sound possible but I really want to break a personal mold by being able to enter a company and build a training team from the ground up. I want to create innovative training that supersedes the norm.
When you look up the word training in the industry dictionary I want to have a picture of my face next to it. I will do this by being intentional about delivering reporting filled with evidence of the continual Return of Investments because of the training I along with a power packed team put together.
If you ask my peers they will tell you I am all about taking risk. VP of Training will allow me to spread the risk taking juice to others and be a part of creating game changing curriculum.
What's one rental housing trend you have your eye on?
- There is no doubt that The Internet of Things is next in technology and will have the power to change the rental housing industry. According to Forbes The Internet of Things is the concept of basically connecting any device with an on and off switch to the Internet (and/or to each other). This also includes people to people, things to people, and things to things. Everything will be able to communicate with one another. Your alarm clock going off could start your coffee maker etc.
So how can this change the rental housing industry? In today's time if you have an appointment for a tour and that prospect is late, you have the choice of either calling the prospect or rescheduling, hoping that prospect shows up or agrees to the new time. Well with The Internet of Things or IOT, the car itself will be able to send you an alert letting you know the new ETA of your prospect. This will cause less stress for your prospect as they will know that you are up to speed on what's going on.
This doesn't just benefit the prospect but also benefits the office staff. Is your stapler running low on staples or printer running low on paper? With IOT, the device will be able to automatically order supplies it is running low on. This saves associates more time and again creates less stress.
If an appliance, because of internet connection can tell a service technician exactly where the problem is before he even leaves his shop, there is no question about it. The Internet of Things is Game Changing!
